Former Indian Ambassador to Nepal Highlights High Public Expectations for New Government

Kathmandu. Former Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Manjeev Singh Puri, stated that public expectations are high for the new government formed in Nepal.

Speaking with NIS of India, he mentioned that cooperation and results-oriented work are necessary to meet the public's expectations. He also noted that a generational change has occurred in Nepali politics, as the new government formed in Nepal has given a clear indication of generational transition.

In the past, the CPN-UML-Maoist alliance secured more than 60 percent of the votes, but the results of the recent election sent a different message, he said. He added that this result will compel Nepali leaders to understand the people's desires. 'This sends a message to the leaders that they must cooperate with each other and fulfill the commitments made to the people.'
