Flood Forecasting Department Issues Flood Risk Bulletin

Kathmandu. The Flood Forecasting Department issued a flood forecasting bulletin on Monday morning stating that there is a risk of flash floods in small rivers in various districts of the country.< /p>

According to the department, as per the measurement this morning, the flow of major rivers of the country Koshi, Narayani, Bagmati, Karnali, Mahakali and their tributaries are below the alert level. Similarly, the flow of Kankai, Kamala, Babai, Eastern Rapti and Western Rapti rivers has also been recorded below the alert level.< /p>

Forecasting the water level and flood for 3 days, the department has indicated a high risk of flash floods in some small rivers flowing through Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Kavrepalanchok and surrounding districts today, Asar 29. Similarly, the flow of small rivers flowing through Panchthar, Ilam, Jhapa, Morang, Saptari, Sunsari, Bhojpur, Sankhuwasabha, Dolakha, Ramechhap, Sindhuli, Sindhupalchok, Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha, Lamjung, Tanahun, Makwanpur, Bara, Parsa, Rautahat, Chitwan, Nawalparasi East, Nawalparasi West, Palpa, Kaski, Parbat, Myagdi, Syangja, Kailali and surrounding districts is also likely to increase significantly. The department has stated that there is a moderate risk of flash floods in these districts.< /p>

The department has forecast that the flow of some small rivers flowing through all seven provinces may increase suddenly on Asar 30 and Asar 31. Those living in and traveling in areas along the riverbanks have been urged to take necessary precautions.< /p>
