Weather Department Forecasts Thunderstorms and Rain in Major Cities

Kathmandu. According to the weather forecast released by the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, there is a possibility of thunderstorms and rain in the major cities of the country today. Light to moderate rain is expected in various cities during the afternoon and night today. In the federal capital Kathmandu, there is a 70 percent chance of moderate rain with thunderstorms this afternoon, with the maximum temperature expected to reach 27 to 29 degrees Celsius. At night, there is a 60 percent chance of rain, with the temperature dropping to 21 to 23 degrees Celsius. Pokhara, Okhaldhunga, Dhankuta, Biratnagar, Dharan, Jiri, and Taplejung have the highest probability of rain this afternoon, at 80 percent. All these cities will experience moderate rain with thunderstorms in the afternoon, and moderate rain is expected to continue at night. Dipayal is expected to have the highest maximum temperature this afternoon, ranging from 35 to 37 degrees Celsius, while Jumla and Jiri will have temperatures around 24 to 26 degrees Celsius. In other cities of the country, including Dadeldhura, Dipayal, Dhangadhi, Birendranagar, Nepalgunj, Ghorahi, Bhairahawa, Simara, and Janakpur, there is a possibility of moderate rain with thunderstorms this afternoon. Jomsom in the Himalayan region and Jumla in the hilly region are expected to have only light rain this afternoon. Looking at the night weather, Dadeldhura, Dipayal, Dhangadhi, Birendranagar, Nepalgunj, Jumla, and Jomsom are forecast to have light rain with thunderstorms. Similarly, Ghorahi, Pokhara, Bhairahawa, Simara, Kathmandu, Okhaldhunga, Dhankuta, Biratnagar, Dharan, Janakpur, Jiri, and Taplejung will continue to experience moderate rain with thunderstorms tonight. At night, Jumla will have the lowest minimum temperature, ranging from 16 to 18 degrees Celsius, while Dhangadhi, Nepalgunj, and Simara will have minimum temperatures around 26 to 28 degrees Celsius.
