Former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli Arrested by Police in Bhaktapur

Kathmandu. Former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has been arrested by the police. The police arrested him from Gundu in Bhaktapur on Saturday. The police handed him an arrest warrant.

Immediately after the formation of the new government on Friday, the cabinet meeting decided to implement the report prepared by the investigation commission led by Gauribahadur Karki.

The commission formed to investigate the Madhes protests had recommended the government to investigate Oli in a criminal case. Based on the report submitted by the commission led by Gauribahadur Karki on Chaitra 24, the cabinet on Friday decided to implement the recommendation to take criminal action against Oli and then Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak. The commission held them responsible for the incident of firing on teenagers in Kathmandu's Baneshwor during the Madhes protests on Bhadra 23 and 24.

76 people died during the Madhes protests.
