Seven Security Personnel Killed in Attack in Western Iraq, Defense Ministry Confirms

Iraq. The Defense Ministry announced on Wednesday that seven security personnel were killed in an attack in western Iraq. The war, sparked by US and Israeli attacks against Iran last February-28, has now spread across most parts of Iraq.

Iran-backed armed groups have already claimed responsibility for attacks on US installations. The Defense Ministry stated that seven security personnel were killed and 13 others injured in the attack on the base in Anbar province.

The ministry confirmed that the attack also targeted the base's military health clinic. Citing security officials, AFP reported that one of the deceased was a military doctor.

Previously, 15 PMF fighters, including one commander, were killed in an attack on an Iraqi base on Tuesday. The Pentagon has acknowledged that combat helicopters attacked Iran-backed armed groups in Iraq during the current conflict.

Baghdad has condemned targeted attacks on foreign soldiers and diplomatic missions, as well as attacks against PMF positions.
