Eight Arrested in Siraha for Human Trafficking and Forced Prostitution Involving Hotel Operators

Siraha. Siraha Police have arrested eight individuals, including hotel operators, on charges of involvement in human trafficking and forcing women into prostitution. They were apprehended in three separate incidents in the district, and the police have initiated investigations.

According to DSP Ramesh Bahadur Pal, Information Officer for the District Police Office Siraha, Dilip Sah and his wife Sunita from Lahan Municipality Ward 8 were arrested for allegedly luring three women with financial incentives and forcing them into prostitution. An investigation is underway after the District Court extended their custody by five days.

Similarly, police stated that Archana Kumari Chaudhary, 40, the operator of Online Hotel and Lodge at Lahan 3 Hospital Chowk, was arrested along with Ashok Kumar Chaudhary, 21, Nitik Kumar Chaudhary, 20, and Akash Chaudhary, 19, all from Saptari's Surunga 9 Tikuliya, for allegedly forcing four women into prostitution. The investigation against the four involved in this case has been advanced with a seven-day extension of their custody.

Police arrested Gujjeswar Sah, 34, the operator of Khushbu Hotel and Lodge in Dhanaigadhimai Municipality Ward 11, along with Shivkumar Yadav, 38, from Saptari's Balanbihul 6, for allegedly forcing two women into prostitution. They are also being investigated under the human trafficking and smuggling case, with their custody extended by seven days.

The police have kept the identities of the victims in all cases confidential, proceeding with legal procedures by assigning them 'symbolic names'. DSP Ramesh Bahadur Pal, Information Officer for the District Police Office Siraha, stated that the police have increased surveillance based on information regarding the operation of such illegal activities using hotels and private residences in the district recently.
