Health Post in Kalikot Declared Nutrition-Friendly Institution

Kalikot. The health post in Kotbada, Narharinath Rural Municipality-1, Kalikot, has been declared a Nutrition-Friendly Health Institution. Information Officer of Kalikot, Katak Mahat, informed that the declaration was made after fulfilling all necessary indicators and procedures in accordance with the 'Nutrition-Friendly Health Institution Implementation Directive, 2079'.

Dr. Ratna Bir Sunar, Health Service Manager at the Health Service Office, stated that the main indicators for declaring a nutrition-friendly ward include ensuring that pregnant and lactating mothers in the 'Golden One Thousand Days' receive regular check-ups and nutrition counseling.

The criteria also include exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months for children, introduction of complementary nutritious food after six months, normal nutritional status of children, open defecation-free status in the ward with a clean environment, and assurance of clean drinking water. He added, "There is a criterion that a ward can be declared nutrition-friendly if there is increased consumption of local products and multi-sectoral initiatives are taken for malnutrition reduction."
