Renowned Indian Director Ramesh Sippy to Attend Nepal International Film Festival Opening Ceremony

Kathmandu. Renowned Indian director, producer, and actor Ramesh Sippy is set to participate in the opening ceremony of the Nepal International Film Festival (NIFF). According to NIFF Chairman KP Pathak, his special presence at the opening event in Nepal has been confirmed.

Chairman Pathak stated that a program has also been arranged for Director Sippy, who will be participating in NIFF, to share his insights on the journey of Indian cinema, his own film career, and his experiences with Nepali filmmakers and audiences. Pathak said, 'We proposed inviting him to NIFF because expanding Nepali-Indian cinematic relations and the experience of a veteran personality like him sharing his experience in Indian filmmaking would certainly provide Nepali makers with some knowledge about the Bollywood market. He accepted.'

Ramesh Sippy has directed more than a dozen films. The film 'Sholay,' which proved to be a cornerstone in Bollywood, was directed by him.

His most recently directed film, 'Shimla Mirchi,' was released in 2020. He has also produced dozens of films and acted in a few. Sippy has cast Bollywood stars such as Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, Mithun Chakraborty, Rishi Kapoor, Dilip Kapoor, Shashi Kapoor, Dharmendra, and Rajesh Khanna in the films he directed.

The ninth edition of NIFF will take place in Kathmandu starting from Chaitra 19. According to the organizers, 88 films from 40 countries will be screened at NIFF, and 10 interactive programs on various topics will be held.
