Man Arrested in Kathmandu for Operating Online Betting Ring

Kathmandu. Police have arrested 26-year-old Mohan Luintel, a resident of Morang's Urlabari Municipality-6, Hathkhola, who was allegedly involved in facilitating betting through online means.

He was apprehended on Tuesday based on information that he was running online gambling through social media and online payment platforms. Police deployed from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Teku, arrested him from Kageshwori Manohara Municipality-8, Shivachowk, on charges of involvement in the operation.

During the preliminary investigation, it was revealed that Mohan was facilitating online betting by having people open digital wallets through betting sites such as Game Room, Game Vault, Juwa, and Las Vegas, and then collecting foreign payments.

Furthermore, the police recovered three monitors, one CPU, one iPad, a motorcycle with license plate Bagmati Province 02-060 P 0656, and NPR 36,000 in cash from his possession. He has been sent to the District Police Range, Kathmandu, for further investigation and necessary action.
