ANFA Defies Directives, Insists on Holding General Assembly on Chaitra 13

Kathmandu. The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) is adamant about holding its general assembly on Chaitra 13.

Ignoring the directive from the National Sports Council (NSC), ANFA has sent letters to its member districts, clubs, and associations with the agenda for the general assembly and elections.

Meanwhile, the NSC has directed ANFA to postpone the election scheduled for Chaitra 13 and provide written information within three days.

The NSC stated in its letter, "Information has been received through various social media channels that the schedule for re-election has been published again without any coordination with the Council regarding the General Assembly (Ordinary Congress) and elections. We hereby inform you that the entire process related to the General Assembly (Ordinary Congress and elections) of the said association, which is supposed to be held, is postponed until approval from the Council, as per Rule 7 (c) of the National Sports Development Regulation 2079, as per the directive issued under Section 28 (d) of the National Sports Development Act 2077. We note with serious concern that the further schedule for re-election has been published in violation of and by ignoring this directive through various social media channels."

The NSC letter further mentioned that the National Sports Council always aims to strengthen and enable ANFA's action plan by coordinating with the Government of Nepal and various international organizations for the development and expansion of football in Nepal. Therefore, any general assembly (Ordinary Congress) and elections of the association held without the Council's approval will not receive recognition from the Council, as it is necessary to make ANFA dispute-free, strong, and capable.

It has also been directed to postpone all activities related to the association's general assembly (Ordinary Congress) and elections and to inform the National Sports Council in writing within three days of receiving the letter.

It was also informed that if the process moves forward by disregarding the directives issued repeatedly by the Council, action will be taken according to the National Sports Development Act, 2077, and prevailing laws.
