Deposit of 57 Candidates Forfeited in Chitwan House of Representatives Election

Chitwan. The deposits of 57 candidates, including leaders from the Nepali Congress and CPN (UML), have been forfeited in the House of Representatives election held on Falgun 21 in the district. They contested from the three constituencies of the district.

According to the District Election Office, the deposits of 15 candidates were forfeited in Chitwan 1, and 21 each in Chitwan 2 and 3. According to Netra Raj Shrestha, Information Officer at the office, the deposits of candidates who did not receive 10 percent of the total valid votes cast in their respective constituencies were forfeited. According to him, 18 candidates registered their candidacy for the House of Representatives in Constituency No. 1, and 23 each in Constituencies No. 2 and 3. In Constituency No. 1, the deposits of all candidates except those from RSP, Nepali Congress, and UML were forfeited. A total of 96,154 votes were cast in that constituency, with 91,899 votes declared valid.

Shrestha informed that in Chitwan 2, the deposits of all candidates except those from the Rastriya Swatantra Party and the Nepali Congress were forfeited. According to him, 87,221 votes were cast in that constituency, with 84,232 votes declared valid. Similarly, in Constituency No. 3, the deposits of all parties and independent candidates except the Rastriya Swatantra Party and the Communist Party of Nepal were forfeited. A total of 100,053 votes were cast in that constituency. He informed that a total of 283,428 votes were cast across the district.

The counting of proportional representation votes in the district has also reached the final stage. Information Officer Shrestha stated that the counting for proportional representation in Chitwan 2 and 3 has been completed, while Constituency No. 1 is in its final phase.
