World Environment Day Celebrated Across Nepal

Kathmandu. World Environment Day 2026 is being celebrated across the country today with various programs. It is being celebrated as a week-long event with the main slogan 'Basis of Prosperous Future: Climate and Nature-Friendly Development'.

On the occasion of the day, the Department of Environment is organizing a special program in Lalitpur. Minister for Agriculture, Forest and Environment Gita Chaudhary is scheduled to attend the main ceremony of World Environment Day as the chief guest. The Department of Environment has stated that various government bodies, development partners, environmentalists and stakeholders will be present at the program.

Director General of the Department Gyanraj Subedi informed that World Environment Day is being celebrated specially to enhance public awareness on environmental protection, facing the challenges of climate change and promoting nature-friendly development. The Department has stated that various awareness-raising and environment conservation programs will be conducted across the country on the occasion of World Environment Day.
