Nepal's Election Day Weather Forecast: Clear Skies Expected Nationwide, Says Meteorological Department

Kathmandu. The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has stated that the weather across the country will be clear on Thursday, the day of the House of Representatives elections.

Senior Meteorologist Varun Paudel of the department said there is no possibility of rain or snowfall that would affect the voting process. He mentioned that the department is issuing realistic forecasts up to one week by refining data-based predictions, issuing special bulletins accordingly, and providing regular updates.

He stated that although clouds may appear in the hilly regions of the country due to a prolonged dry spell, there is no immediate possibility of rain or snowfall. According to him, on Thursday, the day of voting, partial cloud cover might be observed in the hilly areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, and Koshi provinces.

He added that even if clouds cover some hilly areas, there is no need to panic. Senior Meteorologist Paudel said, 'We are currently issuing a special bulletin specifically for the election. We have been issuing special bulletins along with regular updates for a week. As we see it, there is no possibility of rain on election day. The weather will be good on the voting day. However, partial cloud cover may be seen in the hilly regions of Bagmati, Gandaki, and Koshi provinces. Along with the clouds, there is also haze because it has not rained for a long time. That haze has accumulated. Therefore, there is no possibility of rain, heavy rain, or snowfall that would affect the elections. The weather is expected to be good on the voting day. For election day, the weather is clear everywhere. There might be some cloud cover similar to today. If such cloud cover occurs, there is no need to panic. Some places might experience wind. For that, tents at the polling booths might need to be tied down more securely. Other than that, there is no possibility of rain or snowfall. The weather will remain clear.' Paudel stated that the weather is expected to remain clear until next Saturday.
