Putin Condemns Alleged Assassination of Iran's Supreme Leader as 'Brazen Murder'

Moscow. Russian President Vladimir Putin has reacted to the alleged assassination of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The Supreme Leader Khamenei was reportedly killed in an airstrike by the US-Israel on Iran on Saturday.

A day after the incident, Putin commented on Khamenei's killing, calling it a 'brazen murder.' The Russian state news agency TASS reported that President Putin had reacted to the event.

Putin stated that Khamenei's assassination violated all standards of human morality and international law. He also mentioned that Khamenei would be remembered in Russia as a distinguished statesman. Russia and Iran have long been strategic allies.

Iran has been providing military assistance, drones, and ballistic missiles to Russia, and Iran also assisted Russia in setting up a drone manufacturing site during the war with Ukraine.

Previously, the Russian Foreign Ministry had condemned the US-Israeli attack as an ill-considered step and an unnecessary armed aggression.
