Air India Ranks Fourth Globally for On-Time Performance in June

Kathmandu. Indian flag carrier airline Air India has succeeded in establishing itself at the top position in the list of the world's most punctual (on-time performance) airlines. According to the June 2026 report published by aviation analytics firm 'Cirium', Air India has become the fourth most punctual airline worldwide. According to Cirium's report, Air India successfully landed 86.85 percent of its total 15,135 flights operated in June on time. Similarly, the company's on-time departure rate is 86.23 percent, and the 'completion factor' is 99.7 percent. This means that almost all flights planned by Air India have been successfully operated as planned. Air India, which operates flights with Delhi and Mumbai as its main hubs, two of India's largest and busiest airports, has achieved this success despite challenges of high pressure and air traffic control. The company has recently adopted measures such as improving flight departure punctuality, accelerating aircraft ground turnaround processes, and real-time network monitoring to reduce the impact of airport crowds and technical disruptions on the network. The company stated that it has emphasized strong contingency plans and inter-functional coordination to effectively manage unexpected disruptions such as adverse weather, airspace restrictions, or technical problems. The company claims that these efforts have helped bring stability to flight operations and ensure reliable service to passengers. Air India is currently advancing one of the world's largest aircraft purchase plans as part of its transformation campaign. Under this, 600 new aircraft from Airbus and Boeing have been ordered. In the last six months alone, three new Boeing 787-9 aircraft have been added, and more Boeing 787-9 and Airbus A350-1000 aircraft are in the process of being added by the end of 2026. Not only adding new aircraft, Air India is also extensively upgrading the interior design and facilities of its old 'widebody' aircraft.
