Nepali Karate Team Departs for Moscow to Compete in Nations Cup Kyokushin Tournament

Kathmandu. A six-member Nepali team, including 5 players, is scheduled to depart for Russia on Wednesday to participate in the Nations Cup Kyokushin Karate competition to be held in Moscow. Nepali athletes have completed preparations to compete in the international tournament, which will run from February 27 to March 2, with 4 male and 1 female player representing Nepal.

The male players presenting Nepal's challenge include Sunny Singh Sunar in the 70 kg weight category, Sagar Bista in the 75 kg category, Mukesh Kumar Chand in the 80 kg category, and Brinish Maharjan in the 30 kg category. Similarly, Babita Karki will represent Nepal in the women's 55 kg weight category, stepping into the ring in Moscow. The responsibility of leading and coaching the team is being handled by Bir Krishna Maharjan, Chairman and Branch Chief of the Nepal Budokaido Full Contact Association.

National Sports Council Member-Secretary Ramcharitra Mehta bid farewell to the team traveling to Russia during a special program on Tuesday. During the farewell, Member-Secretary Mehta wished the players high morale to perform well and bring glory to the nation.
