Elliot Anderson Commits to Manchester City After Five-Year Deal

Manchester. After confirming his signing on a five-year contract, 23-year-old midfielder Elliot Anderson has stated that he is fully committed to coming to this club. 

Having moved to City from Nottingham Forest, he has signed a contract until June 2031.

This contract, initially agreed upon while playing for England in the World Cup, was certain to make Anderson the most expensive British player in history. However, the transfer of Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa to Chelsea for £117 million later surpassed it.

Anderson said he had no hesitation when given the opportunity to join one of the world's biggest clubs. "As soon as I knew City wanted me, I was completely ready for this decision," Anderson said.

He added, "You want to test yourself at the highest level. Being at City means I get that opportunity. As soon as I arrive in Manchester after my break, I will do everything I can to secure a place in the City squad."

Anderson, who joined Forest from Newcastle United for £35 million in 2024, became an important member of the team. With his excellent performance, Forest finished seventh in the Premier League and qualified for a European competition for the first time in 30 years.

Last season, Anderson helped Forest reach the Europa League semi-finals. He also became the player with the most ball touches and won the most 'duels' in the Premier League. He was a key member of Thomas Tuchel's England squad and played in every World Cup match.

City has agreed to pay the highest amount in the club's history for Anderson, breaking the record of £100 million spent on Jack Grealish in 2021. City beat Manchester United in the competition to bring him into the squad. An agreement between Forest and City was reached before England's Group 'L' match against Panama during the World Cup.

Anderson will play under former Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca, who took over the team in June after Pep Guardiola left the managerial post after ten years at City.
