Former Mayor of Balara Municipality Joins Nepali Congress Party

Sarlahi. Former Mayor of Balara Municipality, Abhay Kumar Singh, has joined the Nepali Congress. Singh, who was recently a leader of the Loktantrik Samajwadi Party (LSP), was inducted into the party by Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa last night.

Singh was elected Mayor of Balara Municipality from the then Rastriya Janata Party (RJP) in the 2074 local level elections. In the 2079 local level elections, Singh was the mayoral candidate from LSP after the split of RJP. However, he was defeated by Ramashankar Kushwaha, who contested from the CPN (Maoist Centre).

Congress President Thapa and other leaders went to Singh's residence last night to induct him into the party. It is reported that Singh, along with former ward chairman of Balara Municipality, Sushil Jha, and other leaders and cadres, joined the Nepali Congress.

Previously, LSP leaders from Sarlahi Constituency No. 4, including former Constituent Assembly member Kedarnath Chaudhary and Manish Mishra, along with other leaders and cadres, had joined the Nepali Congress.
