Major Thefts in Kathmandu and Kailali Result in Loss of Hundreds of Thousands in Valuables

Large amounts of valuables have been looted in two separate major theft incidents across the country. Thieves targeted residences and commercial shops in Tarkeshwor, Kathmandu, and Gauriganga, Kailali, stealing cash and jewelry.

In Tarkeshwor Municipality-10, Kathmandu, valuables worth approximately NPR 1.122 million were stolen from the room of Raily Maya Tamang on Friday morning around 11 AM. Thieves took advantage of the absence of occupants to steal gold and silver jewelry along with cash from Tamang, who is originally from Ruby Valley Rural Municipality-3, Dhading.

Similarly, a significant amount of cash was stolen from a supplier in Gauriganga Municipality-3, Kailali, last night. Police reported that thieves broke the shutter of Lumbini Suppliers, operated by Indra Dhwaj Mahat, and fled with NPR 630,000, INR 80,000, along with mobile phones and other valuables.

The individuals involved in both incidents remain at large. Police have collected statements from the crime scenes and intensified the search for suspicious persons.
