Man Dies in Khotang After Being Struck by Rock Dislodged by JCB Excavator

Khotang. A 71-year-old man, Bal Bahadur Rai, from Dharakhola in Halesi Tuwachung Municipality-1, died after being hit by a rock pushed down from above by a JCB excavator. The rock struck Rai on the head at the scene, resulting in his immediate death, while the JCB, registered as Na 1 Ka 7347, was constructing an internal road in Dalfu, Ward No. 3 of the same municipality.

Police Inspector Sushanta Mishra, Information Officer for the District Police Office, stated that a police team dispatched immediately after being informed of the incident has taken the JCB and its driver, 26-year-old Kebal Magar, a resident of Lekhgaun, Tapli Rural Municipality-2, Udayapur, into custody and initiated legal proceedings. Police also reported that Rai's body was sent to BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan for post-mortem examination after the on-site inquest proceedings were completed.
