Four Arrested in Gorkha for Assault and Murder

Gorkha. Police have arrested four people on charges of beating and murdering a youth in Gorkha. The police took them under control after Sant Bahadur Gurung, 32, of Barpak Sulikot Rural Municipality-3, who was seriously injured in the beating that took place on the road near Gorkha Dohori Sanjh in Chhipinitol, Gorkha Municipality-7, died during treatment.

The incident occurred on the night of Jestha 27. Upon receiving information that an unknown group had severely injured Gurung by kicking, punching, and hitting him on the head with stones and fled, a police team reached the scene. The police immediately took the injured Gurung to Pradesh Hospital Gorkha for treatment. Gurung, who was discharged after initial treatment at the hospital and returned home, suddenly collapsed unconscious on the afternoon of Jestha 29. He was then immediately taken to Pradesh Hospital Gorkha for treatment again, where he died during treatment.

Following Gurung's death, the District Police Office Gorkha began a serious investigation into the incident. During the investigation, the police succeeded in taking four people under control on charges of being involved in the beating and murder with stones. Among those arrested is Bonus Shakya, 24, son of Buddharatna Shakya and Rohini Shakya, residing in Rotepani, Gorkha Municipality-7. Similarly, Mingmar Gurung, 23, son of Samvar Gurung and Vishnu Gurung, residing in Bagaincha, Gorkha Municipality-8, originally from Kerauja, Dharche Rural Municipality-2, and Homraj Gurung, 29, son of Pratman Gurung and Jamuna Gurung, residing in Thalajung, Siranchok Rural Municipality-2, have also been arrested. Police have also taken Santosh Gurung, 24, son of Suksing Gurung and Sant Maya Gurung, residing in Hulchuk, Dharche Rural Municipality-1, under control.

According to Raj Kumar Shrestha, Information Officer and Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office Gorkha, permission has been obtained from the respected Gorkha District Court to extend the detention of all arrested accused for legal proceedings. The police informed that further necessary investigation into the incident is being carried out.
