Weather Forecast: Mixed Conditions Across Nepal with Heat in Terai and Rain in Hills

Kathmandu. The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has released the weather forecast for various cities in the country for Tuesday. According to the details received, the weather will be mixed across the country today. While the Terai cities will experience extreme heat, most places in the hilly and mountainous regions are predicted to have rain with thunderstorms. Today, especially in the cities of western and central Terai, extreme heat will be felt. According to the weather forecast, Dhangadhi and Nepalgunj will have a hot day today. The maximum temperature in both these cities is estimated to reach 38 to 40 degrees Celsius. Similarly, the maximum temperature in Bhairahawa will be between 37 to 39 degrees, and in Simara, it will be between 35 to 37 degrees Celsius. There is no possibility of rain in these Terai cities experiencing extreme heat today, as mentioned in the forecast. On the other hand, there is a possibility of rain in the hilly cities. Pokhara and Taplejung will experience moderate rain with thunderstorms this afternoon. The maximum temperature in Pokhara will be 31 to 33 degrees Celsius, with a 60 percent chance of rain. There is also a 60 percent chance of rain in Taplejung. In the federal capital Kathmandu, light rain with thunderstorms is expected this afternoon. The maximum temperature in Kathmandu will reach 29 to 31 degrees Celsius, with a 40 percent chance of rain. Similarly, moderate rain with thunderstorms is predicted in Biratnagar and Jiri. In Dadeldhura, Dipayal, Jumla, Okhaldhunga, Dhankuta, Jomsom, and Dharan, there will be light rain with thunderstorms. The chance of rain in these places is between 20 to 40 percent. However, in Birendranagar, Ghorahi, and Janakpur, there is no possibility of rain this afternoon. These cities will have partly cloudy skies, and the temperature will be around 34 to 37 degrees Celsius. The weather tonight will also vary by location. In Dhangadhi, Nepalgunj, Birendranagar, and Bhairahawa, which will experience extreme heat during the day, the sky will be mostly clear at night, and there will be no rain. However, in Pokhara, Kathmandu, Okhaldhunga, Dhankuta, Biratnagar, Dharan, and Taplejung, there is a 30 to 40 percent chance of light to moderate rain with thunderstorms at night. At night, the mountainous and high hilly cities will feel very cold. According to the forecast, the lowest temperature tonight will drop to between 9 to 11 degrees Celsius in Jomsom. Similarly, the minimum temperature in Jumla will be between 11 to 13 degrees, and in Jiri, it will be between 12 to 14 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature in Kathmandu is estimated to be between 19 to 21 degrees Celsius.
