Rastriya Swatantra Party Leader and CPN Central Member Join Nepali Congress Ahead of Elections

Kathmandu. Pranay Sher Sher Rana, a House of Representatives ticket aspirant from Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) for Kathmandu Constituency No. 5 and the party's Central Grievance Department Chief, along with Deepak KC, a Central Committee member of the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN), have joined the Nepali Congress.

Rana, who holds a Ph.D. in Conflict Management, was the RSP candidate for the same constituency in the previous House of Representatives election. In the 2079 House of Representatives election, Rana secured 5,477 votes.

Rana, who had been questioning the RSP's ticket distribution methodology, had announced his resignation from the RSP a few days ago, citing violations of rules and procedures within the party. He had consistently protested, alleging that the RSP collected fees based on the promise of selecting candidates through primaries but later distributed tickets in violation of that commitment.

Rana's departure from the RSP and subsequent entry into the Congress is expected to benefit the Congress in the Kathmandu 5 election, as he holds a strong base in the local organization of the RSP. Similarly, KC, a central member of the Socialist Party who has a strong influence in Kathmandu Metropolitan City Ward No. 3, has previously served as a Ward Chairman. KC's entry into the Congress is believed to benefit the party organizationally due to his influence in the ward.

Both Rana and KC were inducted into the party during a program held at the National Assembly Hall by Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa and General Secretary Pradeep Poudel.

General Secretary Poudel is the Nepali Congress candidate for the House of Representatives election from Kathmandu 5.
