Karnali Chief Minister Hails Democracy Day as Cornerstone of National Sovereignty

Surkhet. Karnali Province Chief Minister Yamalal Kandel has characterized National Democracy Day as a glorious and historic day in Nepal's history. Addressing a special program organized on the occasion of Democracy Day, he stated that this day laid a strong foundation for protecting Nepal's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and citizen self-respect.

Chief Minister Kandel highly praised and expressed respect for the contributions of the martyrs, disappeared persons, the injured, and activists of various movements for political and social change. Kandel argued that democracy is not merely a system of governance but the main foundation for people's rights, freedom of expression, the rule of law, and social justice.

He mentioned that the 2007 revolution is a significant foundation for the establishment of the Federal Democratic Republic and the current constitution. Stating that past arduous struggles have brought the country to its current state, he called upon everyone to move forward resolutely towards good governance, transparency, and prosperity by institutionalizing the achievements made.

Chief Minister Kandel recalled that following the incidents of Bhadra 23 and 24 last year, the country is now preparing for the House of Representatives elections. He emphasized that the upcoming election should be viewed as an important opportunity to institutionalize the Federal Democratic Republic.

He also made a special appeal to all general citizens to stand firmly in favor of Nepal's national interest and the democratic republic in the election scheduled for Falgun 21. He expressed his belief that Democracy Day will inspire everyone to move forward on the path of fulfilling citizens' expectations.
