Patient among four injured after ambulance takes a 1000 – metre plunge

Baitadi – At least four persons including a patient were injured after an ambulance fell around 1000 metres below the road this morning in Baitadi. 

The injured have been identified as 55 – year – old patient Bishnudatta Bhatta of Basedi in Byas rural municipality – 6, caretaker Devdatta Bhatta, 40, and 18 – year – old Ganeshdatta Bhatta from the same location, according to District Police Office, Baitadi. 

Ambulance driver, 24 – year – old Govinda Dhami of Malikarjun rural municipality – 8 was also injured in the crash, police said. 

The ambulance (Ma 1 Jha 103) heading towards Dhangadi from Darchula fell below the road and crashed into a bush near Dharamdghar area of Surnaya rural municipality – 3 along the Mahakali highway at 3 am. Police rescued all the injured from the accident site. 

All the injured are being treated at the District Hospital Baitadi, said Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Netra Mani Giri. The cause of the accident has not been disclosed.
