Scrap collectors protest against KMC's demolition (photos)

Kathmandu, December 29 – Scrap dealers in Kathmandu have staged a protest against the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) after bulldozers demolished their stalls, despite a recent ruling by the Patan High Court instructing KMC not to remove their structures.

The protestors, who have been voicing their opposition for some time, claim that the local government violated the court's directive.

On Sunday, they gathered near KMC's office in Kamaladi, raising slogans such as "End the terror of New kings" and "Protect scrap dealers."

The protest comes after KMC's recent decision to clear scrap stalls in the city. The dealers argue that the demolition of their temporary structures was unjust and continues to disrupt their livelihoods.

This is the latest in a series of demonstrations by scrap collectors, who have expressed frustration over the lack of protection for their businesses.
