Couple shot at in Mulpani; assailant arrested

Kathmandu, December 29 — A couple was shot at in Kathmandu’s Mulpani area, located in Kageshwori Manohara Municipality-7, on Sunday night.

The incident occurred around 10:30 PM when Arjun Shrestha and Shanti Devi Shrestha were targeted by an assailant, Sahir Shankar, a 37-year-old from Halesi Tuwachung Municipality-7, Khotang.

According to SP Navraj Adhikari of the District Police Range Kathmandu, Shankar, who was involved in the shooting, has been arrested by the police.

Authorities recovered a semi-automatic pistol and 9 rounds of ammunition from his possession.

The shooting took place near the Riddhi Siddhi Bus Park, when Shankar entered the couple’s home and opened fire.

During a scuffle, Shankar was also injured and all three—Shrestha and Shankar—were admitted to the Trauma Center for treatment.

Initial investigations reveal that the incident was a result of family disputes, according to SP Adhikari.
