Nepal Mandates Official Approval for Calendar and Wall Chart Publication, Imposing Fines Up to NPR 100,000

Kathmandu. A fine of up to NPR 100,000 will be imposed for publishing wall charts without the approval of the Nepal Panchanga Adjudication Development Committee.

The committee has mandated that mandatory approval from the Nepal Panchanga Adjudication Development Committee must be obtained when publishing wall charts. The committee's Executive Director, Laxman Panthi, stated that according to the law, calendars and wall charts cannot be published without the committee's approval. "Calendars and wall charts cannot be published without the committee's approval; if anyone publishes them without approval, a fine of up to one lakh rupees will be imposed," said Executive Director Panthi.

Clause 7 (N) and (Dha) of the Nepal Panchanga Adjudication Development Committee Order, 2077, stipulates that calendars and wall charts can only be published after obtaining approval from the committee. Section 15 of the committee's guidelines provides for a fine ranging from NPR 10,000 to NPR 100,000 for publishing calendars or wall charts without approval. The responsibility for monitoring the publication of calendars or wall charts without approval has been assigned to the District Administration Office.

Executive Director Panthi stated that all organizations, companies, bodies, or individuals publishing calendars and wall charts must obtain mandatory approval. Mandatory approval is required for publishing calendars or wall charts intended for sale and those intended for free distribution.

The committee has set fees for the approval of wall chart publication. The committee has stipulated a fee of NPR 2,000 for the approval of calendars published by educational institutions, NPR 5,000 for the approval of calendars published for free distribution, and NPR 10,000 for the approval of calendars published for sale.
