Court Orders Detention for Suspects in Hyatt Regency Casino Robbery Case

Kathmandu. The court has ordered the detention of those involved in the robbery at Casino Pride, operated within the five-star Hyatt Regency in Boudha, Kathmandu.

Following a hearing on Tuesday, the Kathmandu District Court ordered 10 main defendants, including lead accused Dawa Sherpa 'Sethhi', Ranjit Khadgi 'Rane', and Dorje Sherpa, to be sent to custody for further investigation.

They are accused of looting approximately 14 crore rupees from the casino on Bhadra 24 during a 'Genji' performance. In connection with the incident, Dawa Sherpa, Ranjit Khadgi, Dorje Sherpa, Shukraraj Ghising, Manohari Paudel, Karan Dangol, Abhishek Chauhan, Shishir Rai, Sunil Gajmer, and Ranjan Tamang were arrested. SP Pawan Bhattarai of the District Police Range Kathmandu told Ratopati that the court ordered the ten arrested defendants to be sent to custody for further proceedings.

Based on the investigation report from the District Police Range Kathmandu, the government attorney's office prosecuted them under charges of criminal nuisance and robbery. The police are also preparing to file a case related to money laundering against them.
