Election Commission Completes Ballot Printing for 124 Constituencies Ahead of Upcoming Polls

The Election Commission has announced the completion of ballot paper printing for 124 constituencies across 58 districts for the House of Representatives election scheduled for the upcoming Falgun 21. On Thursday morning by 8 AM, the printing of necessary ballot papers for 124 constituencies in 58 districts under the first-past-the-post electoral system was finalized, informed Baburam Koirala, the Printing Officer at the Commission. Speaking with News Agency Nepal, he mentioned that two crore three lakh twenty-three thousand ballot papers need to be printed for the first-past-the-post election, and printing for one crore fifty-seven lakh seventy-eight thousand ballots has been completed. According to him, the printing of ballot papers for the proportional representation electoral system has been completed, verified (checked), and kept ready for dispatch. Printing Officer Koirala stated that among the printed ballots, the packing for 58 districts is complete and they are ready for transportation. He added that the dispatch of ballot papers for the Karnali Province began today. He also mentioned that there is a phased plan to send ballots to provinces like Sudurpashchim, Koshi, and others along with Karnali. The Election Commission is working with a target to deliver ballots to all 165 constituencies by the upcoming Falgun 12, he said. Printing Officer Koirala stated, 'For the House of Representatives election scheduled for the upcoming Falgun 21, the Election Commission has already printed sample ballot papers starting from Poush 22 and sent them to all 77 districts for voter education purposes. And starting from Poush 26, 2082, the printing of ballot papers for the proportional representation system has been completed, verified, and kept ready. Similarly, starting from Magh 16, the printing of necessary ballot papers for the first-past-the-post electoral system began, and so far, 1 crore 57 lakh 75 thousand have been printed. As of now, the printing and packing for 58 districts are complete and ready for dispatch. The printing work for 124 constituencies has been completed so far. The dispatch of ballot papers for Karnali Province started today. There is a plan to gradually send ballots to provinces including Karnali, Sudurpashchim, and Koshi. The Commission is working with a plan to deliver ballots to all 165 constituencies by the upcoming Falgun 12.' Janak Shiksha Samagri Kendra Limited, Sano Thimi, is printing 1.5 million ballot papers daily. According to Koirala, by Thursday, the dispatch of ballot papers for 10 districts in Karnali Province—Salyan, Rukum Paschim, Dolpa, Mugu, Humla, Kalikot, Jumla, Jajarkot, Dailekh, and Surkhet—has also been completed. –News Agency Nepal
