Veteran Nepali Actor Sunil Thapa Passes Away at 68 After Heart Attack

Veteran actor Sunil Thapa has passed away at the age of 68. He died while undergoing treatment at Norvic Hospital in Thapathali on Saturday morning due to a heart attack. According to Mohan Niraula, President of the Artists' Association, Thapa was taken to Norvic Hospital after experiencing health complications. Thapa, who resided in an apartment in Shankhamul, had been active in both the Nepali and Indian film industries for a long time. He was currently busy shooting the Nepali film 'Ram Naam Satya'. He was particularly famous by the name 'Rate Kaila' and succeeded in bringing the 'villain' role the same recognition and respect as a hero in Nepali cinema. Mohan Niraula, President of the Artists' Association, stated that Thapa was a sociable, disciplined, and respectful established artist. President Niraula mentioned that his contribution to the Nepali film sector was remarkable. He said, 'He was a sociable, respectful of everyone, and disciplined artist. He was a good personality, an established artist for Nepal.' Director and actor Prashant Tamrakar stated that Thapa's demise is a great loss to the Nepali film industry. He mentioned that Sunil Thapa had a huge support and contribution to his film journey. He mentioned that he had just shot the film 'Ram Naam Satya' with Thapa on Friday. He stated that the plan to go to Dailekh for the remaining work of that film is now incomplete. He said, 'My presence in the film industry is a great contribution from Sunil Dai. If I hadn't had his support, I probably wouldn't be in this industry.' Producer Deepak Koirala remembered Thapa as a father figure and expressed deep pain over his passing. He stated that the late Thapa had provided him with a lot of support and guidance. He said, 'He was my guardian.' Thapa's family members reside in Mumbai, India. Thapa is survived by his wife, one son, and one daughter. It has been reported that the last rites will be performed after the family members arrive in Kathmandu. There is a large presence of artists at Norvic Hospital currently. Senior artist Neer Shah, producer Tulsi Ghimire, artist Wilson Bikram Rai, and other artists arrived at Norvic Hospital following the news of Thapa's death. – News Agency Nepal
