Transport Entrepreneurs Urge Political Parties to Prioritize Public Transport Sector in Election Manifestos

Kathmandu. Transport entrepreneurs have urged all political parties and candidates to publish election manifestos that prioritize the public transport sector. The National Federation of Transport Entrepreneurs of Nepal has adopted a policy to support only those who bring clear plans for the improvement of this sector in the upcoming elections.

Punya Prasad Sitaula, Senior Vice President of the Federation, stated that entrepreneurs and workers will support parties that emphasize the improvement and modernization of public transport. He requested all political parties to place the transport sector as a high priority in their manifestos this time and appealed to entrepreneurs and workers across the country to question the candidates about this matter.

The entrepreneurs stressed that the transport sector can no longer operate in a traditional manner and must be made technology-friendly. Sitaula warned that if political parties ignore this issue, they will face losses in the upcoming elections. The Federation has also drawn the attention of the parties to resolve the problems seen in the import of transport vehicles and to commit to policy facilitation.

The Federation maintains its stance that institutional support will be given in the election to the political party that brings the best and implementable plan and manifesto for this sector. As the election approaches, this pressing appeal from transport entrepreneurs appears set to compel political parties to reconsider their agendas.
