Commission Files Corruption Charges Against Former Bharatpur Metropolitan Engineer

Kathmandu. The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Tuesday filed a charge sheet at the Special Court against Bharat Kumar Acharya, the former Senior Engineer (Officer Eighth Level) of Bharatpur Metropolitan City.

The charge sheet was filed at the Special Court on Tuesday alleging that Acharya amassed illicit wealth through acts contrary to his official dignity. CIAA Spokesperson Suresh Neupane informed that the charge sheet was filed under the offense of acquiring illegal property after Acharya failed to disclose the source of the wealth accumulated during his tenure of service.

According to him, Acharya's assets from his entry into service as an Engineer/RAP Third Class on Magh 6, 2048, until Ashad 6, 2080, were scrutinized. During the scrutiny, assets amounting to NPR 6 crore 78 lakh 91 thousand 15 were found to have an undisclosed source, and the Commission has demanded action seeking recovery of the same amount as compensation.
