Voting Begins for National Assembly Elections in Gandaki Province

Pokhara. Voting has started in Gandaki Province for the National Assembly elections. The election commenced at the Provincial Election Office.

CPN-UML leader and Provincial Assembly member Khagaraj Adhikari cast the first vote. There are six candidates contesting for two seats in Gandaki. In this province where the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML have an alliance, the Nepali Congress has fielded Jagat Timilsina for the 'Other' category, and CPN-UML has fielded Samjhana Devkota for the 'Women' category.

CPN (Maoist Centre) has Kapil Lama in the 'Other' category and Goma Ghimire in the 'Women' category. From Rastriya Janamorcha, Shankar Baral is a candidate in the 'Other' category, and Laxmi Baskota is a candidate in the 'Women' category.

In Gandaki, there are 169 local level representatives and 59 Provincial Assembly members as voters. The Office of the Chief Election Officer has stated that voting will conclude by 3 PM, with results expected to be announced by 4 PM.
