Four Candidates Withdraw Nominations for Upcoming House of Representatives Election in Banke

Four candidates who filed nominations for the upcoming House of Representatives election on Falgun 21 have withdrawn their candidacies on Friday. The Election Officer's office stated that they withdrew their nominations from Constituency No. 1 and Constituency No. 2 in Banke district.

Chief Election Officer of the Main Election Officer's Office, Nepalgunj, Deepak Kumar Dahal, informed that Vijaykumar Gupta, a candidate from Nepal Janata Party, and Saraswatiprasad Barma from Janata Samajbadi Party submitted applications to withdraw their candidacies. With the withdrawal of these two candidates, the number of candidates contesting in Constituency No. 2 of the district is now fixed at 20.

Similarly, two independent candidates have also withdrawn their nominations from Constituency No. 1 of the district.

Election Officer Sarojanidhi Wagle informed that independent candidates Pradeepkumar Poudel and Deepak Shahi withdrew their candidacies. Following these withdrawals, the number of candidates contesting in that constituency will be fixed at 15. However, no one has withdrawn their nomination in Constituency No. 3 of the district, where 22 candidates had filed nominations. Out of a total of 61 nominations filed in Banke district, the candidacies of 57 remain after four withdrawals.

There are a total of 350,371 voters across the three constituencies in Banke. Of these, Constituency No. 1 has 124,727 voters, Constituency No. 2 has 108,290 voters, and Constituency No. 3 has 117,354 voters.
