Election Commission Completes Printing of 15 Million Proportional Representation Ballots

Kathmandu. The Election Commission has announced that the printing of 15 million ballot papers for the proportional representation system has been completed.

The printing of the ballot papers began on Magh 2 at the press of Janak Shiksha Samagri Kendra Limited. Now, 5 million ballot papers remain to be printed.

The Commission stated that the printing of ballot papers for the first-past-the-post electoral system will commence immediately after the proportional representation ballot printing is finished.

The final list of candidates for the direct election system has been determined. One copy of the voter list was printed and distributed to all districts for the purpose of filing nomination papers.

The Commission has published the list of 3,406 candidates for the House of Representatives election scheduled for upcoming Falgun 21. The Commission also distributed election symbols on Friday.

According to Commission spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, the candidates include 3,017 males, 388 females, and one other candidate. The Commission noted that the election schedule, from candidacy registration to withdrawal, was completed peacefully and enthusiastically.

The list of candidates under the proportional representation system has also been published.
