Palestine Foreign Ministry Welcomes GCC Summit Communique, Condemns Israeli Occupation
The Palestinian Foreign Ministry has welcomed the final statement issued by the 46th session of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Supreme Council in Manama, Bahrain, praising the bloc's firm stance in support of Palestinian rights.
In a statement, the ministry highlighted the importance of cooperation among GCC states as a foundation for Arab integration and transition toward union. It lauded the council's strong positions against the aggression and genocide facing the Palestinian people, particularly in Gaza.
The ministry noted that the GCC reaffirmed the centrality of the Palestinian issue, calling for an end to the Israeli occupation, the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, and support for the sovereignty of the Palestinian people. The statement also warned against any plans undermining Palestinians' inalienable rights.
It added that the GCC's position on Jerusalem, including urging international action to prevent the displacement of Palestinians and preserve the city's legal, historical, and demographic character, strengthens international efforts to counter Israeli violations and attempts to assert sovereignty over the holy city in breach of international law.
