Formation of Reconstruction Committee

The Government of Nepal has established a new committee to oversee the reconstruction of physical infrastructure damaged during the recent Genjī protests. This body is named the Physical Infrastructure Reconstruction Committee 2082.

Committee Leadership and Composition

The committee will be chaired by the Finance Minister, Rameshwar Khanal. It has been placed under the purview of the Ministry of Urban Development. The committee's composition includes the Finance Minister as the chairperson, with three other members: the Home Minister, the Urban Development Minister, and the Chief Secretary of the Government of Nepal. The Secretary of the Ministry of Urban Development will serve as the member-secretary of the committee.

Purpose and Responsibilities

The primary purpose of forming this committee is to manage the reconstruction of government structures that were damaged. A key function will be to establish a separate fund and manage financial resources for this task. The committee has been authorized to carry out all reconstruction-related work, including fund management and resource allocation, under the framework of the Ministry of Urban Development.
