Prime Minister Oli Departs for Turkmenistan Visit

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is leaving Kathmandu today for a visit to Turkmenistan. He will lead the Nepali delegation to the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, being held in Awaza, Turkmenistan.

Conference Details and Invitation

The conference will take place from Saun 20 to 23 (August 5 to 8, 2025). Prime Minister Oli is attending upon the formal invitations of Turkmenistan’s President Serdar Berdimuhamedow and United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, as confirmed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Oli's Key Roles at the Conference

As the Chair of the Global Coordination Bureau of Least Developed Countries, Prime Minister Oli is scheduled to deliver a speech at the conference. He will also co-chair a high-level roundtable discussion and address other events. Additionally, he will hold meetings with heads of various national delegations and senior officials from the UN and other international organizations.

Delegation and Return Schedule

The Prime Minister’s delegation includes his spouse Radhika Shakya, Chief Advisor Vishnu Prasad Rimal, Federal Parliament member Surya Bahadur Thapa Kshetri, and other high-ranking government officials. Prime Minister Oli is expected to return to Nepal on Saun 23 (August 8, 2025).
