Brother Arrested for Fratricide in Siraha
Family Dispute Turns Deadly
A 25-year-old man, Shyamkumar Saday of Musaharniya, Golbazar Municipality-10, Siraha, has been arrested for allegedly murdering his 35-year-old elder brother, Motiram Saday, in a violent family dispute. The incident occurred last Thursday evening when Shyamkumar, intoxicated, attacked his sister-in-law Kaushila Saday. When Motiram intervened to stop the assault, Shyamkumar fatally stabbed him in the chest with a sharp weapon.
Victim Succumbs to Injuries
Severely wounded, Motiram was rushed to Lahan Provincial Hospital by neighbors but died during treatment. Following the murder, Shyamkumar fled the scene but was apprehended by police while attempting to cross into India via Jamuwa Canal Road in Orahi Gaupalika-3, a border area within 3 km of Nepal-India territory.
Investigation and Confession
Siraha District Police SP Birendrakumar Paswan confirmed that the murder weapon has been recovered. During preliminary interrogation, the accused admitted to the crime. Shyamkumar has been remanded to Golbazar Area Police Office for five days under a court order as investigations continue.
