Ministry of Health Launches National Dengue Awareness Campaign
Kathmandu – The Ministry of Health and Population has announced a National Dengue Awareness Campaign to control the spread of dengue infections across Nepal.
Dengue Awareness Month Declared
At a program held in Kathmandu on Wednesday, Health Minister Pradeep Paudel declared the month of Shrawan (July-August) as "Dengue Awareness Month", launching a nationwide campaign. Minister Paudel emphasized that since dengue risk peaks during this period, preventive measures must be intensified.
Government's Responsibility and Public Participation

Minister Paudel stated that protecting citizens from dengue is the government's duty, requiring mass awareness efforts.

He urged all citizens and organizations to actively destroy mosquito breeding sites (stagnant water) over the next four months.

"Dengue control is not just the government's responsibility it’s a societal mission," he stressed, calling for united efforts.
Dengue Situation in Nepal and Globally

The Health Ministry warned that dengue cases typically surge from Bhadau (August) to Kartik (October).

In 2024 alone, Nepal has recorded over 50,000 dengue cases.

Globally, more than 14 million people were infected with dengue in 2024, with over 11,000 deaths reported.
