Singer Eleena Chauhan shares heartfelt post on divorce

Kathmandu, February 11 — Singer Eleena Chauhan has announced the end of her marriage to Bishnu Sapkota, stating that their marital relationship has come to a premature conclusion.

This statement follows the Kathmandu District Court's decision in their divorce case.

Chauhan shared her thoughts on social media, saying, "The exchange of vows, wedding rings, vermilion, and physical intimacy are not the true essence of marriage. Emotional connection, mutual trust, and understanding are the real soul of marriage, and when that is missing, the relationship ends, as ours did prematurely."

She began her post by addressing her ex-husband as "Dear Bishnu" and reflected on their unforgettable moments from their married life. She mentioned the sacred vows they took in front of the fire, their wedding rings, and the ritual of applying vermilion.

She wrote, "The white thread of our marriage still remains, as do the bangles that you placed on my hands. The marriage certificate we obtained at the local ward office still remains just as new."

However, Chauhan clarified that the divorce was not a matter of choice but a necessity, a hardship that only she, Bishnu, and God truly understood. She mentioned that from today, she is legally free to walk her own path and move forward in life.

Chauhan also stated that she has given up her share of property, which she would have been entitled to as a wife, for Bishnu's progress and success. She ended her message by wishing him well for the rest of his life.

On Tuesday, the Kathmandu District Court, led by Judge Mona Singh, finalized the divorce case, ruling that neither party would take alimony or share assets, as confirmed by court officer Deepak Kumar Shrestha.
