Kathmandu, December 19 — Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has directed an investigation into the public release of a photo of Rashtriya Swatantra Party President Rabi Lamichhane, who is currently in police custody in Kaski.

He has instructed that the responsible party be identified and punished.

On Thursday, Minister Lekhak directed the police chief, Basanta Kunwar, to investigate the matter and ensure that any wrongdoer is brought to justice.

The photo in question was posted on social media by the supporters of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party on Wednesday evening, showing Lamichhane inside a detention room.

Minister Lekhak confirmed that the investigation was underway and emphasized that anyone responsible for the leak would face disciplinary action. “I have instructed the IGP to investigate and bring any guilty parties under the scope of punishment,” he said.

Similarly, Police Spokesperson Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bishwa Adhikari also confirmed that the police have begun necessary investigations into the matter.

It has since been revealed that Dr. Nicholas Bhusal, a supporter of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party, took the photo himself.
