Constitutional amendment to be made with full consensus: Minister Lekhak

Kathmandu, December 15 — Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has stated that constitutional amendments will be made with the agreement of all political parties.

Speaking at a press conference organized by the Nepal Press Union in Chitwan today, he emphasized that the amendment process is intended to strengthen federal democratic governance and inclusivity in the country.

He added, “Initial discussions on constitutional amendments have started, and this will not be a process limited to just two parties.”

The minister further clarified that the review of constitutional implementation would consider both its strengths and weaknesses, and consultations would be held with all political parties to ensure broad consensus.

“For constitutional amendments, someone has to take the initiative. We are moving forward with discussions that include all parties,” he noted.

When asked about the potential for a government change, he dismissed rumors, stating, "There is no possibility of government change. The agreement between Congress and UML stands firm, and we will proceed with it as per the agreement until 2027."

He further assured there were no issues between the two parties, and rumors about a government change were baseless.
