Prachanda accuses government of autocratic behavior towards Rabi Lamichhane

Kathmandu, December 9 — Former Prime Minister and Chairman of the CPN (Maoist Centre) Pushpakamal Dahal Prachanda has accused the government of showing autocratic and inhuman behavior towards Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane.

Prachanda has urged the government to immediately stop its undemocratic, autocratic, and vengeful actions against Lamichhane, who is also a former Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister.

On Monday, Prachanda wrote on social media platform Facebook: “I condemn the autocratic, undemocratic, inhuman, and vengeful behavior the government is showing towards RSP President Mr. Rabi Lamichhane, who has not been found guilty by the court and is elected by overwhelming public support, and I strongly urge the government to stop such behavior immediately.”

Lamichhane was arrested on October 18 on charges of cooperative fraud and was held in police custody in Kaski.

Despite being unwell, Lamichhane expressed objections after he was taken from Chitwan to Pokhara by the police late at night.
