Maoist Center to organize Awareness Assembly in all provinces
Kathmandu, December 5 — The main opposition party, the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre), has expressed great enthusiasm over the results of the recently concluded local by-elections.
The party has decided to introduce detailed public outreach programs at its upcoming central committee meeting.
This decision was made after an initial review and reporting on the election results during a meeting of the party's office-bearers at Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda's residence in Khumaltar on Thursday.
Spokesperson Agniprasad Sapkota stated, "The initial review of the local by-election results was discussed in today’s meeting. The outcome, in terms of both the number of seats won and popular vote, has been deemed encouraging. This has established the basis for contesting the upcoming elections independently, with our own agenda and identity."
The party has taken pride in retaining the Rukum Purba’s Putha Uttarganga and Humla’s Sarkegad rural municipalities, while also achieving significant victories in other areas.
Maoist Centre sees this as an accomplishment, particularly in places like Putha Uttarganga, where they won by a large margin despite a coalition of all parties, and remained unopposed in some wards.
The party also secured significant victories in Jajarkot’s Nalagad Municipality, Morang’s Gramthan Rural Municipality and wards of Nuwakot, Udaypur, Gorkha, Dhanusha and Dolpa.
Sapkota further explained that the results reflect growing public confidence in the Maoist Centre.
He emphasized that despite coming second in Kirtipur, the party's supporters and the public treated it as a victory, signaling an increase in the party's influence and trust among the people.
