RSP President Lamichhane taken to Chitwan for interrogation

Chitwan, December 3 — Rabi Lamichhane, the president of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party, who is in custody on charges of embezzling cooperative funds, was taken to Chitwan today. He was transported via Buddha Air, according to a senior official from the police headquarters.

A supplementary complaint regarding the embezzlement of funds from Sahara Chitwan Cooperative Limited was filed with the Chitwan police on November 20. To facilitate the investigation, Lamichhane was directly brought to Chitwan from Kathmandu.

Former Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Chhabilal Joshi and Ram Bahadur Khanal were questioned for two days regarding the same embezzlement charges related to Sahara Chitwan Cooperative. They were brought to Chitwan on Sunday, and their statements were taken yesterday.

Lamichhane's statement was completed at the Kathmandu District Government Attorney's Office yesterday.

According to the officials involved in the investigation, Lamichhane was asked 74 questions, including queries about the loan he took from Swarnalaxmi, the repayment amount, and the funds that have not been repaid.
