Photo Feature: Voting continues for 41 vacant positions at local level

Kathmandu, December 1 — Voting has begun for 41 vacant posts at the local level. Voting has begun for 41 posts including one municipal mayor, one deputy mayor, two rural municipality chairpersons, four vice-chairpersons and 33 ward chairpersons.
According to Election Commission spokesperson Nita Pokharel Aryal, 226,799 people will exercise their franchise by 5:00 PM. 20 different political parties and 376 independent candidates are contesting in this by-election.
The Commission has stated that arrangements have been made for voting on the basis of original voter ID card, citizenship certificate, national identity card, passport, permanent account number identity card and or driver's license.
Voters have been lining up since morning in the areas where voting has begun.
