Nepal defeats UAE, qualifies for 2025 ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup

Kathmandu, November 13 — Nepal has secured a spot in the 2025 ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup, following a commanding 8-wicket victory over the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Wednesday. 

With the win, Nepal clinched qualification for the prestigious tournament, which will take place in Malaysia in 2025.

Set a target of 84 runs from 16.2 overs, Nepal reached the target in just 14.4 overs, losing only two wickets in the process.

Earlier, UAE, batting first, posted a total of 83 runs in their allotted 20 overs.

UAE captain Samaira Dharnidhar was the top scorer with 31 runs.

For Nepal, Krishma Gurung was the standout bowler, taking 4 wickets for 17 runs in 4 overs.

Opener Sana Prabin led the charge for Nepal, contributing 35 runs to the chase.

Her fellow opener, Sabitri Dhami, supported with 12 runs.

Captain Puja Mahato played a crucial role, scoring 21 runs off 18 balls, including four boundaries.

Sony Pakhrin remained unbeaten on 13, adding vital runs to seal the victory.
