Airfares adjusted following decrease in petroleum prices
Kathmandu, October 2 — Following a decrease in petroleum prices, airfares have also been adjusted. The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) implemented new fare rates on Wednesday based on the revised fuel prices.
The cost of fuel constitutes nearly 40% of the airfare, and fares have been determined considering the reduction in fuel charges.
According to the new rates, the fare from Kathmandu to Bhadrapur has been reduced by NPR 180, Kathmandu to Biratnagar by NPR 145, Kathmandu to Janakpur by NPR 75, and Kathmandu to Pokhara by NPR 95.
Similarly, fares have decreased by NPR 65 from Kathmandu to Bharatpur, NPR 120 to Bhairahawa, NPR 195 to Nepalgunj, and NPR 265 to Dhangadhi. The upper, middle, and lower limits of the new fare structure have all been lowered.
Additionally, under the Short Takeoff and Landing (STOL) framework, fares have been reduced by NPR 180 for the Nepalgunj to Simkot route, NPR 95 for Nepalgunj to Talcha, and NPR 45 for Pokhara to Jomsom.
Among trunk routes, the fare from Biratnagar to Dhangadhi has been reduced by up to NPR 385; however, flights on this route are currently not operational. On the ATOL route, the fare from Kathmandu to Chaurjahari has been decreased by NPR 175, but flights on this route are also not regularly scheduled.
